About MCP in Context

MCP in Context explores the Model Context Protocol (MCP) from all angles: how it works, how it’s evolving, and what it means for builders, companies and end-users alike.

The name is inspired by the idea of a context window — the “working memory” of a language model, and the “C” in Model Context Protocol.

MCP exists to give models more context: structured, relevant information from external tools. This newsletter exists to give you more context on how the MCP ecosystem is taking shape.

About the Author

Hi, I’m MB! 👋

I’m currently a graduate student in Harvard’s MS/MBA Engineering Sciences program. Previously, I was a growth marketer at Stytch, a developer tools startup focused on authentication APIs (and now — also helping developers build authentication for MCP servers).

Perhaps most importantly, I’m a personal MCP enthusiast.

After testing out a bunch of agentic AI tools — Manus, Proxy, you name it — and walking away underwhelmed, I was genuinely energized by what MCP makes possible. I’ve used MCP servers to automate some of my most tedious workflows, reduce copy/paste time, and get better results from my models.

That said, the MCP user experience is still rough, and the protocol has a long way to go. But, I’m optimistic. I believe MCP is a foundational layer for the next generation of model interactions. And I started this newsletter to share what I’m learning, what’s working (and what’s not) in the MCP world, and to help more people explore the space.

Thanks for reading, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any suggestions for what you would like to see!
